Work starts on the complete transformation of Henry Coe’s glorious barrel-vaulted, listed, glass house roofs and surrounding buildings with Apex erecting a tricky temporary restraint system within a few metres of the busy Hammersmith Road, which remained open throughout the installation.
Over 300 tonnes of steel made up all the towers and trusses (which travelled to site as escorted loads) just managed to squeeze into the space granted by the Council by reducing lane widths on the adjacent Hammersmith Road.
